Why did Meru acquire Identity Networks?
The acquisition of Identity Networks is a technology-focused transaction that fills and compliments Meru's family of software products with an industry-leading, robust guest management and identity solution that expands Meru's branded security offerings. The acquisition will allow Meru to enhance its portfolio by adding features and functionalities of Identity Networks.

Who is Identity Networks?
Identity Networks was a privately owned UK firm with a security solution focused on guest access and provisioning secure access for the BYOD phenomenon – where employees are bringing their own personal devices (iPads, iPhones, Android smart phones) into the enterprise. Their technology has been deployed at over two thousand enterprises.

Why are guest management solutions important?
There is considerable market demand for guest management solutions, as the industry can no longer avoid the management issues associated with the explosion of wireless devices attempting to access enterprise wireless networks. With Identity Networks, Meru gains both a guest management solution plus automated configuration for devices.

Identity Networks offers one of the best user experiences for visitor access management, and is able to help define workflow and IT policies. The Identity Networks products are highly scalable and have been proven to meet the demands of large enterprises and campus deployments. The products will allow Meru to offer a solution for heterogeneous networks – a common solution for both wired + wireless as well as environments where there is another (non-Meru) wireless vendor deployed.

Is Meru acquiring all of Identity Networks?
Yes. Meru is acquiring the entire company including all products and intellectual property.

What are the financial terms of the acquisition?
This acquisition is not expected to be material to Meru and, accordingly, the financial details of this transaction are not being disclosed. This is an all cash transaction with an earn-out component. The transaction was closed at the end of August 2011.

How many employees does Identity Networks have?
The team we are bringing into the Meru family is a small one, and they bring a strong commitment to customer focus as well as excellent user interface design skills that will be a great addition to Meru. Identity Networks was a small technology company consisting of a small group of top engineers. We plan to have all former Identity Networks employees join Meru and report through our existing R&D organization.
